Even though embarking on their first-ever European adventure, Oliver Glasner's side are learning very quickly. Without key players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually secures them a spot in the Conference League playoffs.
A further victory in their next match against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct passage to the last 16, particularly following a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Opportunity
This match offered a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second start after arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second game in succession.
The Shelbourne side that had concluded their league season were no match even for a mostly second-string Palace outfit. The Londoners were further weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg problems.

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward tap-in.
Youngster Adam Wharton came close soon after, fizzing a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the referee dismissed the protests.
Ex-Arsenal striker didn't need to wait long to find his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's effort had hit the post.
Shelbourne were hanging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to avoid a booking for a couple of agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his very first touch, only to see his effort blocked.
The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, capping an otherwise perfect evening for the visiting side.
